Shreveport, Louisiana, is a city with a rich musical history. From the early days of jazz to the present day, Shreveport has been home to a thriving music scene. One of the most important venues in Shreveport's musical history is the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. The auditorium opened in 1929 and quickly became a popular spot for both local and national acts. In the 1950s, the auditorium was a major stop on the chitlin' circuit, a network of venues that hosted black musicians.

The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium was a segregated venue, but that didn't stop black musicians from performing there. Some of the most famous black musicians to perform at the auditorium include B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Fats Domino, and Chuck Berry. These musicians helped to shape the sound of Shreveport music and left a lasting legacy on the city.

In the 1960s, the civil rights movement led to the desegregation of the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium. This opened the door for more black musicians to perform at the venue, and it also helped to create a more integrated music scene in Shreveport. In the years since, the auditorium has continued to be a popular spot for both local and national acts.
