In 2017, President Donald Trump appointed Haley to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Haley served in this role for two years, during which time she was a vocal critic of the United Nations and its member states. She also played a key role in the Trump administration's efforts to withdraw the United States from the Iran nuclear deal.
Haley resigned from her post as ambassador in 2018. She has since returned to South Carolina and is currently working on a book about her time in the Trump administration.
