Pecos Bill was the greatest cowboy who ever lived. He could ride a cyclone, rope a longhorn with one hand, and outrun a jackrabbit. But even Pecos Bill couldn't escape the heartache of love.
It all started when Pecos Bill met Slue-Foot Sue. Sue was a beautiful woman, but she had one big problem: she had a horse's foot. Pecos Bill didn't care. He fell head over heels in love with Sue, and they were soon married.
But their happiness was not to last. One day, Pecos Bill was out on the range when he saw a group of cowboys chasing a herd of cattle. Pecos Bill rode to the rescue, but his horse was spooked by the cattle and threw him. Pecos Bill landed on his head and was knocked unconscious.
When Pecos Bill woke up, he was in a hospital bed. The doctor told him that he had a concussion and that he would need to rest for a few days. Pecos Bill was worried about Sue, so he asked the doctor to send for her.
When Sue arrived at the hospital, she was shocked to see Pecos Bill in bed. She had never seen him so helpless before. Sue sat down next to Pecos Bill and took his hand. She told him that she loved him and that she would always be there for him.
Pecos Bill smiled and kissed Sue on the forehead. He told her that he loved her too. Then, Pecos Bill closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.
Pecos Bill never woke up again. He died in Sue's arms, and she was heartbroken. Sue buried Pecos Bill on a hill overlooking the Pecos River. She planted a mesquite tree on his grave, and she vowed to always visit his grave and tell him how much she loved him.
To this day, people say that you can still hear Sue's lament on the wind. She sings a sad song about her love for Pecos Bill, and how she will never forget him.
